Chaz is a native of St. Louis, MO and currently reside in Santa Clarita, CA. He began acting in high school. While “visiting” LA in 2004 by chance, he auditioned and landed a lead role in a stage play and he’s never looked back. He has since appeared in such stage plays as “Mahalia,” and most recently in “There’s No Church On Sunday.” He made his television debut in the short lived series “Outlaw”.

DAVID WENDELL BOYKINS

Director

A native of Alexandria, Louisiana, David began his acting career in Washington DC at the Source Theatre where immersed himself in every aspect of theatre from stage managing to assisting with light and sound design. He also got his first chance to act in a few small productions at the theater before landing a role as a heroin addict on the television show Homicide: Life on the Street. While in DC, he also worked for Kaiser Permanente’s Educational Theater Program where he performed in, Secrets, a show that dealt with the trials of being a teenager who is HIV positive. David made the move to Los Angeles in 1999. Since then he’s worked as an actor in everything from music videos to television shows such as The Shield, ER and Arrest and Trail. He’s also starred in several independent films and in numerous plays. Three of these plays where nominated for best ensemble. Niggas with Attitudes and Big Guns was nominated for best ensemble in the 2000 Artistic Director Achievement (A.D.A.) Awards. For Black Boys Who Considered Homicide When the Streets Were Too Much was nominated for best ensemble in the 2001 NAACP Awards. David is also honored to have starred in the lead role in, How Kintu Became a Man which was nominated for best ensemble in the 2002 Ovation Awards. A member of The Black Gents of Hollywood, David traveled to New York in 2008 with the run of the Off Broadway production WEBEIME, a play produced by the famous Negro Ensemble Company. Currently, he is once again working with the Gents as an actor and Technical Director/Lightning Designer of the Off Broadway show, Black Angels over Tuskegee.

LEROY PARKER

Writer & Executive Producer

LeRoy Parker (Exec. Producer/Writer) was raised in Los Angeles, he attended Crenshaw High School, where he became part of the “Black Movement”. After graduating from Crenshaw High, he discovered he had a talent for storytelling, so he studied screenwriting at UCLA. While working as a waiter in Studio City, Roy met Joe Barbera of Hanna Barbera Cartoons. Joe Barbera sent Roy to USC, where he attended their Animation Writer’s Program. After finishing, he worked as a “freelance writer” for Hanna Barbera and wrote “Smurfs”, “Scooby-Doo’s” and “Flintstone” cartoons. Roy has since written several “Sitcom pilots”, Features and Christian films. It has been Roy’s spiritual goal to write and produce “Martin duty calls”. In a time where Black History is non-existent in public schools, this play is a reminder of the sacrifices the King family and many other black civil rights activist endured for our social advancement. “With all the racial unrest in our nation, Doctor King’s dream is slowly becoming a nightmare. This play is a wonderful way to remind us of Doctor’s King’s dream and our purpose and goals. I owe a lot of thanks, to a group of very talented and dedicated people for helping me bring “Martin, duty calls” to reality. But, I owe a very special thanks, to my lovely wife, Donna, “DP”. Thank you for your inspiration and vision and to Chaz Ingram, thank you for your friendship and genius. Three years ago, my wife suggested that I write a Christian project. A week later, I met Brother Chaz. Together, we created our dream, “Martin duty calls”. and the rest is history. I hope you enjoy the dream”!

I have always been inspired by theater and loved the arts. When I met my husband, with such an incredible, extensive writing and business background, I knew it was only a matter of time before we would collaborate on a important project such as this! It has been a great honor to work with the cast and see how they developed the characters that at once was just a thought. I Thank Pastor Marlon Saunders for always encouraging and supporting myself, Pastor Smart for believing in Martin Duty Calls, my husband Roy for understanding his calling and following thru on the VISION to serve the people education through the arts, and I thank my Valencia Christian Center Family for being supportive from DAY ONE!
